Objective To analysis the association between individual psychological and physiological characteristics and non-fatal occupational injuries inasteel-iron enterprise. To explore the Main risk factors of non-fatal occupational injuries. To formulate corresponding synthetical prevention and interference measures in order to degrade the probability of occupational injuries .Methods Unmatched case-control study was conducted.116 cases and 149 controls were filled the same questionnaire by each subject. Both cases and controls received questionnaire investigation including general state of sex, age, marital status and health status, TABP,EPQand TCSQ.Detecting content of plasma 5-HT by HPLC in the same time. Results We all received 237 valid questionnaires in This case-control study . we have 103 cases and 134 controls in this case–control study. Mean age of 103 cases was 34.80±6.93 years, including 90 male workers,90.3 percent of cases, and including 10 female workers, 9.7 percent of cases. The male-to-female ratio was 9.3:1. 57.3% occurred in 30-39 years. Occupational injury happened mainly in the hands and feet with the percentage of 38.9%.The main category of accident was objects against with the percentage of 29.3%.The most common injuries was blast injure with the percentage of 25.6%.The serious-to-slight injure ratio was 1:5.Single factor analysis showed that health status, time hurry, emotion unstability, extraversion and the content of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) had significant difference between case and control.Multivariate unconditional logistic regression model analysis showed that health status, emotion unstability, extraversion and the content of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) were protected or risk factors of occupational injuries with OR values as (OR 0.097, 95% CI0.019-0.480),(OR 1.119, 95% CI0.996-1.639),(OR 1.235, 95% CI1.005-1.860)and(OR 0.997, 95% CI0.995-1.000)respectively.Conclusions The occurrence of non-fatal occupational injuries in steel-iron enterprise was related to individual psychological and physiological characters.People who were emotion unstability, extraversion and relatively low content of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) had accident proneness. If we could protect employees who were at risk , maybe the probability of accident could be reduced.
