Objective To observe the effects of camellia oil on irritant dermatitis and allergic contact dermatitis , in order to understand anti-inflammatory mechanism of camellia oil. Methods Rat paws swelling models were established and applied drug separately on the right hind foot of rats , swelling degree was compared between groups. Maleic Dialdehyde, Superoxide Dismutaes and PGE2 were measured in inflammation tissue. Allergic contact dermatitis mice models were established. Different drugs were used topically on the ear. Histology examination, pathological analyse and inflammatory cytokines RT-PCR test were performed.Results①Irritant dermatitis animal model was Successfully established.②The swelling were inhibited by camellia oil, 0.5% Tea polyphenols and 0.25% Tea polyphenols at the later stage of inflammation. The results were compared and evaluated using the LSD test. A level of P < 0.05 was considered to be statistically significant. The effects of inhibition by 1% Tea polyphenols and Halcinonnide were similar;③The levels of SOD in groups of camellia oil, Halcinonnide and 1% tea polyphenol were significantly higher than those in the negative control group. On the other hand, compared with the glycerol group, the levels of MDA of camellia oil , halcinonnide and two tea polyphenol dose group (0.5% and 0.25%) were significantly lower .④In addition,we had found that the production of PGE2 were decreased in the groups of Halcinonnide and tea polyphenol .The result of Tea polyphenols group demonstrated a dose-dependent downregulation of PGE2 . However ,the PGE2 levels were not statistically different between the camellia oil group and the glycerine group.⑤DNFB allergic contact dermatitis model was Successfully established. The gene transcription of IL-2 and INF-γwere significantly expressed in allergic contact dermatitis groups.⑥As compared with changes in group treated with glycerine, the inflammatory response in the affected ears of mice treated with Halcinonnide and camellia oil was dramatically inhibited. There was a slight inflammatory cell infiltration and fewer histopathological changes.⑦The gene transcription lever of IL-2 and INF-γwere suppressed in the groups of halcinonnide and camellia oil.Conclusion:①It shows that inflammatory swelling could be inhibited and oxidative damage could be reduced by camellia oil.②camellia oil can alleviate the pathological damage in allergic contact dermatitis mice, and suppress the gene transcription lever of IL-2 and INF-γ.
