Objective:To study the expression of the members of the Wnt signaling pathway includingβ-catenin , Gsk-3β,APC, and Axin as well as their significance about the development and malignant in the gliomas, in order to determine the nature of human biology.Method:"EnVision two steps"of Immunohistochemistry was used to determine the expression ofβ-catenin,Gsk-3β,APC and Axin in 48 Formalin-fixed paraffin embedded samples of gliomas,11cases of normal brain tissues respectively. Results: There was no expression ofβ-catenin protein in normal brain tissue;the expression ofβ-catenin protein in low-grade gliomas and high-grade gliomas was 64.0% and 95.7%(P<0.05).Expression of Gsk-3β,APC and Axin proteins in control have statistically significance in gliomas(P<0.05);The expression rate of,APC and Axin proteins in gliomas of grade I~II were significantly higher than in gliomas of grade III~IV(P<0.05). The expression ofβ-catenin was negatively correlated to the expression of Gsk-3β,APC and Axin in gliomas (P<0.05). There was statistically significant between the expression ofβ-catenin Gsk-3βand APC recurrence of gliomas(P<0.05).Conclusion: Overexpression ofβ-catenin and reduced expression of Gsk-3β,APC and Axin existed in gliomas. The expression level ofβ-catenin was higher in high-grad gliomas than low-grade gliomas. The expression level of Gsk-3β,APC and Axin were lower in high-grad gliomas than low-grade gliomas.β-catenin, Gsk-3β,APC and Axin may play an important role in the tumorgenesis and malignant progress in gliomas.β-catenin Gsk-3βand APC can be used as indicatores of forecasting gliomas recurrence.
