The Clinical Research Of Correcting The Secondary Unilateral Cleft Lip Nose Deformity

Objective:To base on the formation mechanism of the unilateral cleft lip nasal deformity(CLND),this study was designed to explore a general and reliable treat pattern for the unilateral CLND by review of clinical data of 230 patients.Methods:230patients(151 males,79 females,ranged from 16 to 31 years in age with mean age of 20.5 years) with unilateral cleft lip nasal deformities(CLNDs) were available for this study.With the idea of comprehensive plan and individual surgerical procedure,we correct all the pathological factors that cause ND.The methods used for correction included:suspension or filling of the alar cartilages to correct the collapse deformities,correction of the severe septal deviations to improve the narial figure,augmentation of the alar base to obtain bilateral symmetry with biomaterial or soft tissue,anatomic reposition of nasal-labial muscles which keep the balance of bilateral tension of muscles,etc.After operations,the measures are taken to maintain the nostril shape.Results:The CLNDs of 230 patients were improved more or less after operations. 92cases(40%)were followed up for 3 months to 9 months,and in the results showed deformities,9 cases trended to relapse,23 cases undergoing biomaterial implants had satisfied results without complications.Conclusions:1,The general method of correcting the secondary unilateral CLND is effective.2,To base on the pathological anatomy of the secondary unilateral CLND is very important.3,The operation is simple.There are no severe complication after operation. The technique allows maximum stability in correcting the secondary unilateral CLND.The result is good and long lasting,and the scar is not obvious.
