Objective: The study is focus on the inhibition effect of natural plant Ficua carica L. (fig) on C6 glioma, and explores the mechanisms of the effect in an experimental research. Methods: The inhibition effects of fig and its various constituents and preparations were studied in vitro and on a C6 glioma-bearing rats model in vivo. Concentrations of fig preparations were used and studied their effects on cell proliferation in vitro. The intracranial C6 glioma-bearing rats model was established, to observe pathomorph and histology form. Results: Inhibition effects on glioma cell were showed in every concentration group of various preparations in vitro, the fig latex and middling concentration groups showed most significant effect. in vivo, Achievement ratio of glioma model of rat Intracal is 100%. Conclusion: Blood serum of containing fig drug showed an affirmative curing effect on glioma both in vitro, and can refrain the growth of glioma cell and promote the apoptosis of glioma cell. The study achievements provide us new thought ways and methods in glioma study and clinical applications based on the integrated of TCM and modern medicine.
