Partâ… Diagnostic Value of High-Frequency Ultrasound in Detecting Carotid Atherosclerosis in Patients of Type 2 DiabetesObjective:To evaluate the diagnostic value of ultrasound in detecting carotid atherosclerosis in patients of type 2 diabetes. Methods:One hundred patients of T2DM and thirty healthy subjects were examined by high-frequency ultrasound. The intimal-medial thickness (IMT) and the atheroslerotic plaques of carotid artery were observed. Results:There was a significant difference between C group and the other groups in IMT of carotid arteries, the plaque scores and the detection rate of plaques(P<0.05). So was it between A and B groups with D group. There was a significant difference between C group and the other groups in the number of abnormal vessels and vessels with multiple-plaques detection(P<0.05). The detection rate of soft plaque was higher than hard plague and mixed plaques(P<0.05).Conclusions:IMT and the carotid atheroslerotic plaques in the patients of type 2 diabetes are significantly increased with the course of diseases closely. The high-frequency ultrasound is a convenient, effective and valuable method to detect the carotid atherosclerosis of patients of type 2 diabetes. Partâ…¡Study on Remodeling of Carotid Atherosclerosis in Patients of type 2 Diabetes with High-Frequency UltrasoundObjective:To study the remodeling of carotid atherosclerosis and its clinical value in patients of type 2 diabetes(T2DM) by high-frequency ultrasound .Methods:One hundred patients of T2DM and thirty healthy controls were examined by high-frequency ultrasound. The intimal-medial thickness(IMT),total vessel area(TVA),plaque area(PA),lumen area(LA) and remodeling index(RI) were calculated at atherosclerotic lesion segments. Total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG), HDL-cholesterol (HDL-C), LDL- cholesterol(LDL-C),apolipoproteinA1(ApoA1),apolipoproteinB(ApoB) were measured. Results:The rate of remodeling of carotid atherosclerosis in type 2 diabetes was higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).The rate of negative remodeling in group C was higher than that of group A and B(P<0.05).The rate of negative remodeling was higher than that of positive remodeling in group C(P<0.05). The rate of positive remodeling was higher than that of negative remodeling in group A and B(P<0.05).The rate of negative remodeling of soft and mixed plaques in group C was higher than that in group A,B and D (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in rate of remodeling among soft, hard and mixied plaques(P>0.05). The rate of positive remodeling,TC,LDL-C and ApoB were higher in soft plaques than that in hard and mixed plaques(P<0.05).Conclusion: High-frequency ultrasound is a convenient, precise and integrated method to assess remodeling of carotid atherosclerosis in the patients of T2DM.
