Rhododendron anthopogon D.Don is a plant of the genus Rhododendron of the Ericaceae family and is one of the original plants of TaLeGaBao.It's produced in the south part of Tibet and grows on the hillside shrubbery from 3000 to 4900 meters as well as distributing in the area of Kashmir,Bhutan,Sikkim and north part of India.TaLeGaBao which is widely used for cleaning heat and antiphlogosis has bitter and acebity nature flavour. In tibetan medicine, the leaves and flowers of Rhododendron anthopogon D.Don are used as different drugs.Sixteen compounds have been isolated from the leaves of Rhododendron anthopogon D.Don.Fifteen of them were identified as sequlene(1),benzoic acid,4-[[(2E)-3,7-dimethyl-2,6-octadien-1-yl]oxy]-2-hydroxy-6-methyl-(2),ranhuadujuanine A(3),cannabiorcicyclolic acid(4),ursolic acid(5),ranhuadujuanine B (6),β-sitosterol(7),phenol,3-[(3,7-dimethyl-2,6-octadien-yl)oxy]-5-methyl-(8),umbelliferone(9),3-hydroxy-3-phenyl propanamide(10),3,5-dihydroxytoluene (11),quercetin(12),myricetin(13),myricetin-3'-O-β-D-xyloside(14)and hyperin (15) and their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectra data.Compounds 1,2,8 and 11 were isolated from Rhododendron plant for the first time. Compounds 3,4 and 6 were isolated from plants for the first time. The structure types were involving with triterpene, monoterpene, sterol, coumarin, amide, phenol, flavonoid and flavonoid glycoside. The examined samples will be provided for further pharmacological screening.
