Objective: To assess the safety and efficacy of photoselective vaporization of prostate(PVP),transurethral resection of the Prostate(TURP) with transurethral electro-enucleation of the Prostate (TUEP) for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH).Methods: 307 patients with BHP were grouped in threeGroup 1164 patients received PVPGroup 2 107 patients received TURPGroup 3 36 patients received TUEPTested and measured the relating physiological parameters pre-,in-and post-operation.Results: Postoperatively, the IPSS,QOL and Qmax of all the cases were significantly improved(P<0.01). and there was no significant difference among the three groups. The mean indwelling catheter time and resident time were shortest and The electrolyte changes were smallest in the PVP compared with other groups.NO significant different found in TURP and TUEP. TUEP has more entire resection of the prostate. Conclusion: Three surgical methods are all effective to the treatment of BPH. PVP is as effective as TURP and TUEP for the treatment of symptomatic BPH. PVP is more safe and less complications. The patients suffering from BHP with high risk factors were better adapted to PVP.
