Purpose:Common carotid artery, common iliac artery or femoral artery of the newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic patients were screened to investigate the incidence of artery plaques in them and the correlative risk factors,so that we can recognize the role that blood sugar, blood pressure and blood lipid play.By that new therapy methods were carried out to prevent artery atheromatous plaques.Methods:B-mode ultrasound was used for screening for plaques located in common carotid artery, common iliac artery or femoral artery, respectively.Based on the thickness of IMT,patients were divided into two groups:425 patients without plaques(IMT≤1.3mm) and 113 patients with artery plaques(IMT>1.3mm).Furthermore,the differences of age,sex,waistline,BMI,SBP,DBP,FBG,2hBG,HbA1c,HOMA-IR,TG,TC,LDL-C,HDL-C between the two groups were calculated and subsequently analyzed.Results:①Our datas showed that the incidence of artery plaques in these newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic patients was 28.6%.The IMT thickness of common carotid artery, common iliac artery or femoral artery in patients without artery plaques was(0.74±0.17)mm,(0.74±0.15)mm or (0.74±0.17)mm,respectively.However,in patients with artery plaques, the corresponding data was(0.91±0.23)mm,(0.94±0.21)mm and(0.88±0.22)mm;②A significant difference in mean values of intima-media thickness was observed between patients with artery plaques and the controls(P<0.05);③At multivariate logistic regression performed in the overall series of subjets, independent risk predictors of artery plaques presence were age, systolic blood pressure and TG.Conclusion:The prevalence of plaques in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes is higher, suggesting that the dysfunction of glucose metabolism or lipid metabolism plays an important role in the development of artherosclerosis.
