Objective:Cervical cancer is the second malignant diseases of women in the world, each year more than 280,000 patients died , of which 80% occured in developing countries [1]. Study shows that there is only a small part of the HPV-infected cervical lesions will develop into invasive cervical cancer. A number of other oncogenes, tumor suppressor genes and micro- environmental factors also play an important role in the progress of cervical cancer. The aim of this study was to determine the expression and clinical significance of integrinανβ3, tight junction protein claudin-1 in cervical squamous carcinoma of cervix. Methods: We examined integrinανβ3 and tight junction protein claudin-1 expression in 30 cases of cervical squamous cancer by immunohistoche-mistry SP method. All the tissue paraffin blocks were filed in Dalian Central Hospital Pathology diagnostic squamous cancer from January 2003 to December 2007: 20 cases of well-differentiated group, 10 cases of poorly differentiated group. SPSS10.0 was used to analysis the data.Results:1.The positive expression rates of integrinανβ3 of well-diffe- rentiated and poorly differentiated groups in squamous cell carcinoma of cervix were 55% (11/20) and 80%(8/10) separately. The expressive inten- sity of integrinανβ3 in poorly differentiated groups was significantly higher than in well-differentiated group (P <0.05).2.The positive expression rates of claudin-1 protein of well- differentiated and poorly differentiated groups in squamous cell carcinoma of cervix were 80%(16/20),20%(2/10). The expressive intensity of claudin-1 protein in well-differentiated group was significantly higher than in poorly differentiated groups (P <0.05). Conclusion:The expression of integrinανβ3 is negative correlative with the pathologic degree of differentiation in squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix. With the descending of pathologic degree of differentiation, the expression level of integrinανβ3 is up-regulation, so integrinανβ3 in patients with cervical squamous cell carcinoma has certain clinical sign- ificance in prognosis. The expression of claudin-1 protein is positive correlative with the pathologic degree of differentiation in squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix. With the descending of pathologic degree of differentiation, the expression level of claudin-1 protein is down-regulation, so claudin-1 protein in patients with cervical squamous cell carcinoma has certain clinical significance in prognosis.
