Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of intravitreal bevacizumab (Avastin) for choroidal neovascularization (CNV) in pathologic myopia by including optical coherence tomography(OCT),fluorescein angiography (FFA) and best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA).Methods: 42 eyes in 41 patients with PM choroidal neovascularization (CNV) were divided into 2 group randomly. experimental group (n=22): assigned to receive intravitreal bevacizumab injections and taking Fufang Xueshuantong capsule; the control group(n=20) :just taking Fufang Xueshuantong capsule . Subjects were followed up every months after treatment .To compare the efficacy and safety of two group by Ophthalmic evaluations including optical coherence tomography(OCT), fluorescein angiography(FFA), and best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA).Results: 1.BCVA:Two group BCVA was improved after 12 month .The mean number of treatments per eye , experimental group was 4.23±2.02 and control group was 1.95±1.90.There was significant difference (P<0.05) .2. OCT:Before and after12 month central foveal thickness(CFD) for two groups were thin. experimental group mean number were43.41±40.39μm and control group were 22.65±20.79μm, There was significant difference (P<0. 05); 3. FFA: In experimental group CNV was completely disappeared in 20eyes (90.91 % ), persistent in 2eyes (9.09% ); the control group CNV was completely disappeared in 12 eyes (70 % ) , persistent in 5 eye (30 %) .There was significant difference (P<0.05) ;Conclusions: Intravitreal bevacizumab are safe and effective treatment for most patients of choroidal neovascularization in pathologic myopia.
