| With the rapid development of hyphenated instruments and related chemometrics methods, it is possible to provide powerful tools and extensive prospect for the building and evaluating of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) fingerprint. Moreover, multivariate curve resolution methods are applied in resolution of the two-dimensional data obtained by high performance liquid chromatography with gas chromatography mass and fourier transform infrared; and pattern recognition methods are employed to establish and resolve the fingerprints of traditional Chinese medicine, which could be used for the quality control of Chinese medicine. In Chapter one, a review on research status and development foreground was arised, which the conception, characteristics, research content and its importance for quality control of TCM were introdced mainly. In addition, the methods applied for fingerprint analysis of TCM was also reviwed, and the chemometrics methods were discussed specially. The trend of fingerprint analysis was mentioned in the end.In Chapter two, chromatography fingerprints of 45 Folium Perillae samples were obtained by HPLC-DAD and GC/MS. These samples were collected from five provinces in China. With the application of principal component analysis (PCA), it was found that, HPLC fingerprints could be used to explain Folium Perillae samples origins, and the GC/MS data could be used to explained its collected times and varities. The proposed method could be successfully applied to classify the Folium Perillae samples into different groups that correlated to its collected times and varities, and it could be used fot the quality control of Folium Perillae effectively. Moreover, two supervised pattern recognition algorithms were applied to processed the data, and similar results could be obtained. In chapter three, high performance liquid chromatography and Fourier transform infrared fingerprints of Hanglianshangqing pills were established for 7 of 26 samples. It was found that genetic algorithm was application for feature selection in Fourier transform infrared spectra data sets, and it could selected the variables effectively. The results based on principle component analysis showed that there were obvious differences among the Hanglianshangqing pills produces by different manufactures. These observations from the PCA biplot were supported by hierarchical cluster analysis, and the method developed can be effectively used to control the quality of traditional Chinese medicine Hanglianshangqing pills. In chapter four, high performance liquid chromatography and diode array detector (HPLC-DAD) was employed to establish the fingerprint of Radix Angelicae Dahuricae (RAD). Two rational chemometrics methods were applied to resolve the high performance liquid chromatographic fingerprint of RAD. Principal component analysis (PCA) and cluster analysis (CA) were employed to research the similarities and dissimilarities among the 30 RA samples. Both of the two pattern recognition (PR) methods could be successfully used to classify these object samples respect to their sources. The multiple results manifested that the referred technologies can be efficiently used to classify traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), RAD into groups, which correlated to their active components, and providing a reference method for chemical pattern recognition of other TCM. |
