Objective:To investigate the cause of postoperative copracrasia in children with sacrococcygeal teratoma(SCT),to take measure to consummate modus operandi for SCT, decrease its complications, and boost its therapeutic efficacy. Methods:From May 1999 to December 2008,forty one patients with SCT were reviewed retrospectively. The age of children at operation was 42 days to 12 years, average 1.4 years;13 cases were boys,28 cases were girls;17 cases belonged to Altmanâ… ,15 cases belonged to Altmanâ…¡,6 cases belonged to Altmanâ…¢,3 cases belonged to Altmanâ…£;and 34 cases underwent a procedure by sacrococcygeal path,7 cases underwent a procedure by abdominal and sacrococcygeal path.Through observing 2 cases adult corpses and 4 cases pelvis specimens,2 cases were children, comprehend the characters of pelvis, which provides the morphology evidences for decreasing its postoperative copracrasia. Results:Nonmalignant teratoma appeared in 34 out of 41,malignant teratoma in 7,copracrasia in 2,hypodermatic fluidification and infection of operative incision in 2, necrosis of flap in 1,chronic sinus tract in 1,and recidivism in 2.twenty two children were followed up,and postoperative follow-up period ranged from 1 year to 4 years(average 2.4 years).20 cases are still living.Observations of pelvis:The first,There were identical of structure of pelvis between adult and children. But,children's muscle in pelvis are thinner. The second, levator ani muscle was the major component part of diaphragm of pelvis. The third,Parts of the puborectal muscle, that of the pubococcygal muscle and that of the iliococcygeal muscle make up the anococcygeal ligament. Conclusion:Levator ani muscle is the major component part of the diaphragm of pelvis, there is significant effect for retaining the anatomic structure of pelvic organs. Anococcygeal ligament is related to the formation and maintenance of anterior and posterior horns of the anal canal.Recovering the pelvis, rebuilding the anococcygeal ligament can prevent the copracrasia.
