ObjectivesTo observe the dynamic expression of bone morphogenetic protein-2(BMP-2) and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)gene during restoration of rat femoral nonunion.MethodThe models of femoral nonunion of SD rats were established, and then the genic expression of BMP-2 and VEGF in different repairing stage of nonunion(day 1,3,7,14,21,28,35)were detected using RT-PCT technique.ResultsIn different stages of femoral nonunion, the genic expression of BMP-2 and VEGF gene between central zone and outer zone also varied, their genic expression increment and the peak level were significantly lower In the central zone than those in the outer zone, and the peak level in the central zone appeared later than that of in the outer zone.ConclusionLower value and the lag in genic expression of BMP-2 and VEGF in the central zone during the early stage may be an important reason of nonunion occurring in rat femur, supplying extrinsic source of BMP-2 and VEGF in early stage may be contribute to the repairing of nonunion.
