Bacteriostatic action of 25 chinese herbal medicine on Escherichia coli,Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa was studied experimently. Fructus Chebulae and Sophoraflavscens Ait and others about 14 chinese herbal medicine have obvious inhibition for three kinds of bacteria, and that the bacteriostatic effect and concentration had positive correlation. So do the further study of bacteriostatic breadth of Fructus Chebulae and Sophoraflavscens Ait. The results showed that the extract of Common Fructus Chebulae had strong antifungal activity, and the obvious action in bacteriostasis upon Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and the bacteristatic spectrum was wide. In these medicines, the extracts of Medicine Terminalia Fruit had the obvious action on these bacteriostasis. the pathogenic bacteria and crops have good antibacterial effect. But bacterial pathogens, Cnidium Frui relative to sensitivity of pathogenic fungi. Therefore, to Fructus Chebulae bacteriostatic effective components, high performance liquid chromatography of effective constituents identified by chemical methods, the YWGC18(250mm×4.6mm,id,10μm)columnand methanol-acetonitrile-0.03mol/L phosphoric acid solution(30:25:38) as mobile phase were used. The flow rate was 1.0mL/min and the detective wavelength was 275nm. The column temperature was 25℃. Take this kind of components for further antibacterial activity, and the results show that one of these has obvious antibacterial effect. There will be the antibacterial activity part of the solution chromogenic reaction, results with FeCI3 reagent produce blue-black color or precipitation. In the air by oxidation produce colors darker. This is the peculiar kind material tannins. And the results are consistent with the report.
