Objectives: We approached the factors which influence the prognostic of nonsmall-cell lung cancer(NSCLC) and the therapeutic actions of traditional Chinese medicine in lung cancer through analyzing the clinical datas of NSCLC patients in Traditional Chinese medical hospital of Zhejiang province in 2005. What's more, we have found some problems which can be useful for therapy improvement. Methods: We collected 149 NSCLC patients' clinical datas in our hospital in 2005, and definited patho-categorys and stagings through the WHO and 97TNM of UICC standards. These clinical datas include sexuality, age, smoking information . tumor position, clinical stage, patho-category, treatment and tridional differentiation of symptoms and signs for classification of syndrome. We did the quantization of these factors and recorded by computer which were followed up to December 31th ,2008. We analyzed these datas by SPSS16.0 statistics software. First of all. mon-factor analysis of clinical parameters have been analyzed by Log-Rank test, to find out which may influence potential prognosis factors .Then we analyzed the multi-factor regression analysis by COX test, to find out independence factors .Finally, we analyzed the influence of various factors to survival quality by Kaplan-Meier test, to demonstrate the therapeutic effects of chinese medicine to the lung cancer. Results: 1,2,3 year accumulation survival rate of the 149 patients were respectively 25%, 16% and 8%, the overall median survival was 12.0 months, and meso progression 4.0 mouths. COX test displayed that there's no obvious relationship between prognosis of lung cancer with sexuality, smoking information, family history, patho-category and differentiation of symptoms and signs for classification of syndrome. On the contrary , Age ,living environment ,tumor staging, curative effect and the time Treated by Chinese medicine have a statistical sense; tumor staging, curative effect and the time Treated by Chinese medicine may be the independence factors influencing the prognosis of lung cancer. We also found that treated by Chinese medicine for more than 1 year can improve the patients" long-term survival rate obviously, which demonstrated the therapy effect of Chinese medicine to tumor. Combined treatment of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine can be much more effective to advance stage NSCLC in the future.Conclusions:1. There's no obvious relationship between prognosis of lung cancer with sexuality, smoking information, family history, patho-category and differentiation of symptoms and signs for classification of syndrome.2. Age ,living environment ,tumor staging, curative effect and the time Treated by Chinese medicine have a statistical sense; tumor staging, curative effect and the time Treated by Chinese medicine may be the independence factors influencing the prognosis of lung cancer.3. Treated by Chinese medicine for more than 1 year can improve the patients" long-term survival rate obviously. Chinese medicine can effectively prevent tumor recurrence and metastasis. We recommend treatment of tumor patients by Chinese medicine for 3 to 5 years.4. Combined treatment of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine can be much more effective to advance stage NSCLC in the future.
