The study targeted on children with autism and explored the effectiveness of video modeling on communication skills .Three children with autism in special education school were involved .They all have language capability and have no access to communication with others ; they couldn't express demands, ask for help and interaction with people; they have good visual ability ;there exists inappropriate behavior in communication. In this study, the multiple-probe design across individuals of the single subject design was adopted for communication behavior .The independent variable was the invention of video modeling .the dependent variable was verbal communication behavior frequency, the frequency of non-verbal communication behavior and the frequency of inappropriate behaviors. Data were collected mainly by observation and further analyzed with visual analysis. Meanwhile ,at the end of study ,three teachers were interviewed for the social validity of the study.The study indicated that video modeling can improve the communication skills of autistic children, reduce inappropriate behaviors ,to maintain the effectiveness of the intervention after withdrawal; and also showed good social validity, main findings from the study were at list as follows: (1) video demonstration can improve the behavior of autistic children in the frequency of verbal communication; (2) video demonstration can improve the behavior of autistic children in the frequency of non-verbal communication; (3) video model can reduce the frequency of inappropriate behaviors; (4) maintain a good effect; (5) video modeling have good social validity.According to research findings, proposed suggestions for teaching and study area in video modeling.
