Background Since the nationwide "quality care demonstration project"were launched by China’s Ministry of Health in2010, interpersonal communication skills of nurses are increasingly important in the meaning of high quality nursing care. Nursing students, as the nurses in the future, are the new force of the nursing team. Having good interpersonal communication skills in clinical work, is essential in building a harmonious nurse-patient relationship.Objective This article will focus on the investigation of current sation, avoiding the weak points, improving the study method, improving interpersonal communication satisfaction of the clinical nursing students, and providing a reference for a better care and the educational reform.Methods This study applies the method of questionnaire, and Stratified sampling method, to extract240internship nursing students from three top three general hospitals in Henan Province, and245specialist clinical interns as the sample of the comparative study. The questionnaires are:communication motivation scale, communication knowledge scale, scale of communication skills and interpersonal communication satisfaction scale. The data were analyzed by a SPSS17.0statistical software.Results1. Clinical internship nursing students’interpersonal communication motives average score is2.20±0.36, and significantly lower than the median of3.00(t=13.108, p<0.001). Different employment intentions, internship experiences, voluntary reporting, personality types, whether has been a Students’ Union (Communist Youth League) member, all have statistically significan to the interpersonal communication motives scores of clinical nursing students.2. The average score of their interpersonal communication knowledge is3.40±0.41, significantly higher than the median3.00(t=15.008, p<0.001). Different ages, whether has been a Students’ Union (Communist Youth League) member, family categories, voluntary reporting, whether has been in a teaching hospital, grades of professional course, and personality type, all have statistically significant to the interpersonal communication motives scores of clinical nursing students.3. The average score of their interpersonal communication skills is3.73±0.65, significantly higher than the median of3.00. In the five dimensions of communication skills, change oneself gets the highest score3.32±0.14, is significantly higher than the intermediate value; and the other four dimensions equipartition are all lower than the middle value; Different educational levels of one’s parents, family categories, genders, ages, and whether has been a Students’ Union (Communist Youth League) member, whether relatives has been working in medicine, employment intentions, the nature of one’s internship hospital, achivements of professional subjects, personality types, all have statistically significant to the interpersonal communication skills scores of clinical nursing students.4.Clinical practice nursing students’ interpersonal communication satisfaction average score is2.27±0.26, significantly lower than the middle value3.00; in the three dimensions, overall satisfaction of the transcript was ranked first (2.98±0.59); including academic levels, gender, age, professional category, whether has been a students’ Union (Communist Youth League) member, the educational level of one’s parents, family category, employment intentions, the nature of one’s internship hospital, grades of professional course, personality category all have statistically significant to the difference of clinical nursing students’ interpersonal communication satisfaction.5. The correlation coefficient between their interpersonal communication motives and interpersonal communication satisfaction degree was0.462(p<0.01); and betwwen the interpersonal communication knowledge and interpersonal communication satisfaction degree is0.586,(p<0.01); and betwwen the interpersonal skills and communication satisfaction degree is0.452,p<0.01.6. In communication skills, sedation dimension, communicate knowledge and change- oneself dimension may predict53.1%of interpersonal communication satisfaction togeter.Conclusion Clinical practice nursing students interpersonal communication abilities in henan province is in a good level, the communication skill level is relatively high, the second is communication knowledge and communication motivation, communication, divided the lowest satisfaction;Different demographic characterstics on the influence of clinical practice nursing students interpersonal communication abilities are different. Interpersonal communication satisfaction are positively related to motivation and communication, communication knowledge, communication skills and communication satisfaction has significant positive correlation;Calm dimension of communication skills, communication, knowledge and communication skills to change yourself three dimensions can predict clinical practice nursing students interpersonal communication satisfaction.
