Objectives To find the the difference of the estrogen receptorαgene polymorphism between the Multiple Sclerosis patients and the normal group. In order to explore the correlation between genetic polymorphism of ERαgene,PvuⅡ,XbaⅠand their susceptibility to MS in patients of Yunnan Han subjects. Methods Identified the polymorphism of estrogen receptorαgene PvuⅡand XbaⅠin 46 MS patients, contrasting with 47 normal people who were matched in age,by using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP)method,and analyze the correlations between polymorphism of gene PvuⅡand XbaⅠand the susceptibility to MS.Results The distributing frequencies of P allele gene in MS group and contrasting group were 46.7%and 27.7%respectively and had significant difference(X~2=7.05 p<0.01);while the distribution frequencies of X allele gene in MS group and contrasting group were 26.1%and 17.0%respectively and had no significant difference(X~2=2.26 p>0.05).Conclusions There is correlation between ERαPvuⅡgene and the susceptibility to MS patients of Yunnan Han people, possibly,it is one of susceptible gene to MS among Yunnan Han people, and P allele gene is more susceptible to MS in people of Yunnan province who have it.There is no significant difference between MS patients of Han people in Yunnan Province whose XbaⅠenzymes-cutting polymorphism were positive and normal people. Combining gene analyze show there are no significant difference of distribution of respective gene.
