Objective:To evaluate the sequential therapy for the old infraocclusion patients by measuring their masticatoryeficiency, occlusal force and electromyography in order to enhance the level of the oral rehabilitation.Method:Four patients were picked out from those patients who needed to be treated with occlusal reconstruction, and reasonable treatment was carried out with them. Record the correlated data of spectrophotometer, T-ScanⅡsystem and Bio-Pak electromyography before treatment, one month later with transitional restoration and after three months with definitive restoration respectively. The correlated data was statistical analyzed.Results:①One month later with transitional restoration and three months later with definitive restoration, absorbance improved remarkably. There was statistics diference (P<0.05)。②One month later with transitional restoration and after three months with definitive restoration, occlusal force increased remarkably. There was statistics dife rence (P<0.05)。③One month later with transitional restoration and after three months with definitive restoration, balance of occlusal force decreased obviously. There was statistics diference (P<0.05)。④One month later with transitional restoration and after three months with definitive restoration,EMG of rest jaw position all decreased remarkably. There was statistics diference (P<0.05)。⑤One month later with transitional restoration, EMG of intercuspal position has a trend of enlargement, but there was not statistics diference (P>0.05)。After three months with definitive restoration, EMG of intercuspal position is obviously enlarged, There was statistics diference (P<0.05)。 Conclusion:After occlusal reconstruction, the appearance and phonetic function of patients have been well improved. Their TMD symptoms have certain improvement. Masticatory eficiency, occlusal force and balance of occlusal force are all remarkably improved. Occlusal reconstruction is effective for treating old patients with infraocclusion.
