objectiveThis study aimed at exploring the relationship between estrogen,NOexpression in the pathogenesis of pelvic organ prolapse..MethodsThe objects of this experiment were fifty-nine POP and fourty-six NON-POP cardinal ligament and anterior vaginase tissue specimens were obtained from patients underwent surgical resection at Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University between 2008 January and 2009 Nov. All the samples were fixed by formalin and embedded in paraffin. Immunohistochemical staining was performed by the streptavidin-peroxidase (S-P) method. The statistical package SPSS 13.0 was used for all analyses. The chi-square test was used to determine the correlation between Nitric Oxide Synthase or Estrogen receptor expression, the relationship between Nitric Oxide Synthase and Estrogen receptor was analized by pearson test. Values of P< 0.05 were considered statistically significant.Results一,The expression of Estrogen receptor on cardinal ligament and anterior vaginal wall of POP and control groupThe Estrogen receptor positive expression rate in cardinal ligament and anterior vaginal wall of pre-menopausal and postmenopausal POP group is 33.33%,37.5%,83.33%,77.78%, respectively. The Estrogen receptor positive expression rate in cardinal ligament and anterior vaginal wall of pre-menopausal and postmenopausal control group is 31.4%,25.71%,57.14%,50.0%, respectively. The expression of difference of Estrogen receptor in premenopausal POP group and the control group of the cardinal ligament and anterior vaginal wall is significant (P<0.05).The expression of difference Estrogen receptor in postmenopausal POP group and the control group of cardinal ligament and anterior vaginal wall is significant (x2=4.20, P<0.05; x2=3.96, P<0.05).二,The expression of nNOS in cardinal ligament and anterior vaginal wall of POP and control groupThe nNos positive expression rate in cardinal ligament and anterior vaginal wall of pre-menopausal and postmenopausal POP group is37.5%,58.33%,5.56%,11.11%, respectively. The nNos positive expression rate in cardinal ligament and anterior vaginal wall of pre-menopausal and postmenopausal control group is 60%,65.71%,21.43%,17.86%. respectively. The expression of difference of collagen I in premenopausal POP group and the control group of the cardinal ligament and anterior vaginal wall is significant (P<0.05).The expression of difference nNos in postmenopausal POP group and the control group of cardinal ligament and anterior vaginal wall is significant (x2= 14.43, P<0.05; x2=9.45, P<0.05).三,The relationship between the expression of Estrogen receptor and nNOS in cardinal ligament and anterior vaginal wall of POP groupA positive correlation was observed between the expression of Estrogen receptor and nNos in cardinal ligament and antetior vaginal wall of pre-menopausal pop group (rs=0.5352, P<0.01; rs=0.5976, P<0.01); And the same results was found in POP postmenopausal group (rs=0.5484, P<0.05; rs=0.5802, P<0.05).Conclusion1. The Estrogen receptor in the pathogenesis of POP might play a role.2. The expression of nNos in POP group may contribute to the occurrence of the POP.3. The expression of Estrogen receptor and nNos group in reducing the occurrence of the POP.
