ObjectiveTo evaluate left ventricular function before and after coronary artery bypass graftin(CABG) by two-dimensional strain imaging.MethodsTransthoracic echocardiography(TTE) was performed in 30 patients with coronary heart disease(CHD)before and 1 month,3months,6 months after CABG. Conventional echocardiography parameters were documented real time 2-dimensional strain imaging data for longitudinal function were recorded from Gray scale 2-dimensional apical im-ages of the LV (4-,2-, and 3-chamber views), mean global longitudinal strain (GLSs) and strain rate (GLSRs,GSRe,GSRivr) were calculated, as indices of global LV systo lic, diastolic function, by averaging the global longitudinal strains and strain rates obtainned automatically from each apical view, and then compare the change of conventionnal echocardiography parameters,two-dimensional strain imaging parameters.Results1. At 1 month follow up, compared with pre_CABG, changes of the conventional echocardiography parameters were found.EF,LVEDd decrease (P<0.05),but changes of other conventional echocardiography parameters without statistic significance. At 3 months follow up,EF,LVEDd return to perioperation untile 6 months follow up.2. At 1 month follow up, compared with pre_CABG, GLSs,GLSRs decrease, and return to perioperation at 3 months follow up, up to 6 months follow up, GLSs,GLSRs improved significantly(P<0.01).After CABG,GSRe,GSRivr improve significantly(P<0.05),and improve with time.ConclusionThis study indicated that two-dimensional strain imaging is a useful method which can quantitatively assess left ventricular function in patients before and after CABG surgery, having higher sensitivity than conventional echocardiography.
