ObjectiveTo compare the prognostic values of SOFA score(sequential organ failure assessment) and APACHEⅡscore on patients with paraquat poisoning.MethodsThe SOFA and APACHE II scores, mortality, complication and discriminability were measured in 52 patients with Paraquat poisoning.ResultsThere was a significant concordance in prognostic value between SOFA score and APACHE II score(P<0.01) on paraquat poisoning. There was a significant difference of SOFA score and APACHE II score between survivors and non-survivors groups(P<0.01).The mortality increased obviously when SOFA score≥5 or APACHE II score≥5. There was a significant difference of complication rate between different SOFA score and APACHE II score (P<0.01). The area under ROC curve of SOFA score and APACHE II score was 0.914±0.039 and 0.893±0.044 respectively.ConclusionBoth SOFA and APACHE II scores can be used to predict the outcomes of paraquat poisoning.
