Objective:From the interrelationship of acupoints and acupoints, acupoints and meridians, meridians and meridians, using the principle of different acupuncture stimulation with reducing and reinforcing techniques and its influencing the temperature system, we tried to investigate the effect of acupuncture stimulation of Heart Meridian of Hand-shaoyin on skin temperature of the contralateral Heart Meridian. Through this,we wanted to provide the basis of existence of meridian system and the further theoretical basis of the characteristic of the meridians'running operation.Methods:60 subjects (male, average age 28) randomly divided into acupuncture A group, acupuncture B group and control group, each group of 20 people. Acupuncture A group received acupuncture on the left Shaofu acupoint(H8), lifting, thrusting, swirling and rotating of reducing techniques, manipulating the needle every 2 minutes, retained needles for 5 minutes. Acupuncture B group received acupuncture on the left Shaohai acupoint(H3), lifting, thrusting, swirling and rotating of reinforcing techniques, manipulating the needle every 2 minutes, retained needles for 5 minutes. Skin temperature was measured on Shaochong acupoint (H9) before, during and after acupuncture stimulation. The initial 5 minutes were defined as BAS (before acupuncture stimulation) period. The following 5 minutes were defined as DAS(During Acupuncture Stimulation) Period. The last 5 minutes were defined as AAS(After Acupuncture Stimulation) Period. The control group did not received any acupuncture stimulation, other treatments was the same to acupuncture A group and acupuncture B group, measuring skin temperature on Shaochong acupoint (H9) at the same time. Results:Our result indicated that, acupuncture stimulation with reducing techniques of Shaofu acupoint(H8) decreased skin temperature on Shaochong acupoint(P<0.01), acupuncture stimulation with reinforcing techniques of Shaohai acupoint (H3) increased skin temperature on Shaochong acupoint (P<0.05) in the DAS period. And the changes remained throughout the AAS period. Conclusions:Acupuncture stimulation with reinforcing and reducing techniques of Heart Meridian of Hand-shaoyin changed the skin temperature on shaochong acupoint on the contralateral Heart Meridian. This was the existing basis for meridians. And it reflected the reliability of the five element on the acupoints of Heart Meridian. To a certain extent, it revealed that the running operation of meridians is along-meridian and systemic.
