Abstract/Summary:
Background:A meta-analysis was carried out to determine the effectiveness of breast conservation therapy(BCT)or mastectomy(MT)for recent Chinese early stage breast cancer. Methods:A fully recursive literature search was conducted in the Chinese Biomedical Literature Database. Randomized controlled trials(RCTs)were considered for inclusion. Analyses were carried out using RevMan software.Results:25 RCTs including a total of 2048 patients were included at last. The meta-analysis showed that the overall survival in 3,5 years, the locoregional recurrence rate and metastasis rate were not statistically significantly different between group BCT and group MT,but the Complications recurrence rate increased in group MT. The subgroup analysis indicated that both subcutaneous effusion recurrence rate and skin flap necrosis recurrence rate in group MT were higher than group BCT. But there Was no significant difference between group BCT and group MT in affected limb swelling recurrence rate. Conclusion:BCT was better choice than MT for Chinese women with early stage breast cancer.
