ObjectiveTo deduce Carotid Elasticity Transmission index(CETI).Then we analyze the relationship between CETI and intima-media thickness (IMT)of the carotid artery by correlation analysis, to investigate CETI's value of clinical application.Methods77 patients with essential hypertension(EH) and 24 healthy controls were collected.There wasn't significant diference in ages (P>0.05). We detect the blood flow rate of intracranial arteries(including MCA, intracranial ICA and BA)by TCD and detect IMT and blood flow rate of CCA by difunctionality color Doppler,Their pulsatility index (PI) was calculated.We analyze the association between CETI and IMT by bivariate correlation analysis. The formulars we deduced were"CETI1 = PIMCA/PICCA,CETI2= PIICA/PICCA and CETI3=PIBA/PICCA".Results1.Curve fitting about IMT and CETI:The correlation between CETI and IMT is curvilinear correlation (quadratic curve). Each of the coefficient of determnation"r2"is 0.695,0.671and 0.612(P<0.001).2.Analysis of variance about CETI of any two ones in six groups: The groups with IMT<0.7mm,0.7mm≤IMT<0.8mm,0.8mm≤IMT < 0.9 mm,0.9mm≤IMT<1mm,1mm≤IMT<1.1mm and IMT≥1.1mm were named as Group A,B,C,D,E,F in turn.①. CETI1: There wasn't significant diference in population mean between Group A and B (P>0.05). In addition,the diference between any other two groups was significant (P <0.05).②. CETI2 : The population mean wasn't significant diference among Group A, B and C ,and the same between Group D and E (P> 0.05); The diference between any other two groups was significant(P <0.05).③. CETI3 :The population mean wasn't significant diference among Group A,Group B,Group C and Group D(P> 0.05), and the same between Group E and Group F (P> 0.05). In addition,the diference between any other two groups was significant (P <0.05).3. Multiple linear regression analysis:In patients with EH, there's a relationship between IMT and the factors (including BMI, LDL, daily cigarette smoking, SBP,age.).It is linear regression (P <0.05); SBP plays the most important role in the factors. Conclusion :CETI will be expected to be a surveying index to reflect the elasticity of cerebral conducting arteries in patients with hypertension.①. The arteriosclerotic rate of MCA will accelerate, even faster than extracranial arteriosclerosis when IMT is thicker than 0.8mm;②. When IMT is thicker than 0.9mm, arteriosclerotic rate of intracranial ICA will accelerate, and faster than rate of extracranial arteriosclerosis .③。CETI1 is more sensitive than IMT in reflecting cerebral arteriosclerosis or changing in arterious elasticity.CETI1 can be recommended to used in clinic.
