| Objective:To detect serum levels of vitamin D and serum Ca2+ in patients with gastric cancer and healthy persons, and explore the correlation of them.Material and Methods:A case-control study was adopted.31 gastric cancer patients admitted in Shandong Province Hospital from July 2009 to February 2010 (including 23 males and 11 females, average age 60.1±11.9 y)and 40 healthy control persons (including 29 males and 8 females, average age 53.6±13.4 y) were enrolled this study. All cases were confirmed by operation and pathology, all fasting peripheral venous bloods were taken in early morning after final diagnosis. Serum vitamin D was detected by ELISA, serum calcium was detected by Photometric colorimetric method. All statistical analysis were performed by software SPSS 16.0 (for windows). Two-sample T test was used to compare mean, and ANOVA was used in diversity of the mean compansion.Results:1,Serum Ca2+ determination results:There's no significant difference of serum calcium ions levels between gastric cancer and healthy persons(P=0.16,>0.05)2,Serum vitamin D determination results:The serum levels of vitamin D of gastric cancer patients were lower than those in healthy people (P=0.04,<0.05) obviously, and it promotes that maybe vitamin D is a protected factor of gastric cancer.3,The correlation of serum vitamin D levels and clinic-pathology in gastric cancerThe serum levels of vitamin D were negative related to the degree of cell differentiation significantly (P<0.001), that is there're higher levels of vitamin D in the patients with higher degree of the cell differentiation; but unrelated to sex, age, position, clinical stage, depth of infiltration, lymph node metastases, and distant metastases (P>0.05).So vitamin D can be seemed as a marker of malignant degree, but not be related to tumor progress.Conclusions:1,There's no significant difference of serum calcium ions levels between gastric cancer and healthy persons(P>0.05).2,The serum levels of vitamin D in gastric cancer were obviously lower than those in healthy persons (P<0.05).3,The serum levels of vitamin D were negative related to the degree of cell differentiation significantly (P<0.001), but unrelated to sex, age, position, clinical stage, depth of infiltration, lymph node metastases, and distant metastases (P>0.05). |
