Objective:To evaluate the correlation between multiple cardiovascular risk factors and the extent and severity of angiographic coronary heart disease (CHD) in patients underwent coronary angiography and the effectiveness of the cardiovascular risk factors in the diagnosis of CHD.Methods:Eight hundred and twelve patients underwent coronary angiography were selected according to inclusion criterial from QI LU hospital from February 2009 to December 2009. The extent and severity of angiographic coronary was diagnosed by the ACC/AHA CHD cumulative index. Cardiovascular risk factors included were age, gender, hypertension, smoking status, type 2 diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, high uric acid level and low total bilirubin level. We also collected their coronary angiography results. The extent and severity of coronary stenosis was evaluated by ACC/AHA coronary scoring systems and weather to be diagnosed as CHD. The sensitivity and specificity of the cardiovascular risk factors diagnostic test were analyzed. Analyses were achieved by Multiple linear regression analysis and Logistic regression analysis. Results:Multiple linear regression analysis showed that age, gender, hypertension, smoking status, type 2 diabetes mellitus and low HDL-C (high density lipoprotein-cholesterol) were prominent predictors of the extent and severity of coronary. These five risk factors were significant predictors of CHD by Logistic regression analysis. The sensitivity of age, gender, hypertension, smoking status, type 2 diabetes mellitus and low HDL-C was 98.49% in the diagnosis of CHD. The specificity of them was 14.67%.Conclusion:Age, gender, hypertension, smoking status, type 2 diabetes mellitus and low HDL-C correlate with extent and severity of angiographic coronary artery disease and have a high sensitivity and low specificity for diagnosing CHD. The diagnostic value of HDL-C is better than TC (total cholesterol) and LDL-C (low density lipoprotein-cholesterol) for Chinese people with lower cholesterol, it may be regarded as a better predicative marker for CHD.
