Analysis Of The Disease Spectrum Of 9060 In-Patients In The Department Of Neurology

Objective:To investigate the characteristics of disease spectrum of in-patients in the department of neurology, accordingly which can supply reference for the scientific management of hospital and the direction and focus of health services. Simultaneously, for health policy formulation, disease control and prevention,and scientific research topics should also be based on the spectrum of disease.Methods:The clinical data of in-patients in the department of neurology of Shandong University QiLu Hospital in seven years from 2002 to 2008 were surveyed and analyzed retrospectively.Results:The in-patient number of neurology department increased year by year; Middle and old aged patients occupied the majority, and forty-five year old and above aged patients achieved 77.4% of total number of hospital; The top ten diseases of disease spectrum are:cerebral infarction(43.5%),transient ischemic attack(8.8 %), intracerebral hemorrhage (7.3%), Central Nervous System infection (5.3 %),sequelae of cerebrovascular disease (2.9%), Guillain-Barre Syndrome (2.3%), epilepsy (1.9%), Multiple Sclerosis (1.8%), myasthenia gravis (1.6%), tumor (1.2%);Age structure of in-patients had no significant change in this seven years,but the disease spectrum in various ages are obviously different.The distribution of diseases in young in-patients was relatively decentralized,and the elderly in-patients had concentrated diseases distribution; The death spectrum indicated that cerebral infarction, intracerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage, sequelae of cerebrovascular disease, Central Nervous System infection,tumor, cerebral embolism,epilepsy, myasthenia gravis and Guillain-Barre Syndrome occupied the first 10 positions.Conclusions:General health workers should strengthen primary and secondary prevention of cerebrovascular disease, moreover increase input and further study, as the patients hospitalized because of cerebrovascular disease increased year by year and the research of cerebrovascular disease should hold a very important status. Since the disease spectrum in various ages are obviously different, we can focus on prevention and control diseases according to different ages. Attention should be payed on the malignant tumor,which has ranked the top 10 positions both in the disease spectrum and death spectrum of in-patients in the department of neurology.
