ObjectiveExplore the combination of pedicle screw and cage in the therapy of stenosis of the lumbar spine combined with lumbar instability and the medium-term clinical efficacy.MethodsPedicle screw and cage were used in retrospective analysis of the treatment of degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis combined with lumbar instability in 45 patients.41 cages were followed up for a mean of 16 monthes(The longest follow-up of 26 months, the shortest 11 months). Follow-up using visual analog scale(VAS) and Oswestry Disability Index(ODI) to evaluate the surgical results. Results41 cases'ODI score for 85.47±3.61 preoperatively and postoperatively 46.89±3.032 weeks later after operation and 46.82±3.03 for final follow-up, Their VAS score for 7.78±0.67 preoperatively and postoperatively 3.38±0.582 weeks later after operation and 3.38±0.56 for final follow-up。ODI,VAS's preoperative and postoperative scores were compared and the obvious difference (P<0.05), and the final follow-up and 2 weeks'comparison results showed no statistically significant difference (P>0.05).Three cases didn't integrate.Fusion rate was 92.7%.Acceptance rate at the end of follow-up rate was 85.4%. No serious complications occurred.ConclusionsAll sliding section are well reset (axis reset). Fusion rate is good, no serious complications. The medium-term clinical efficacy of stenosis of the lumbar spine combined with lumbar instability are satisfactory. The combination of pedicle screw and cage in the therapy is a effective and reliable treatment method.
