To investigate whether Angiotensin I converting engyme inhibitor(ACEI), Angiotensinâ…¡receptor blocker(ARB), Calcium channel blocker(CCB) in alone or in combination can improve renal function and morphology in 5/6 renal nephrectomy rat.Methods5/6 renal nephrectomy rats were randomly divided into 5 groups:one was false-surgery, one was positive control group, the others were treatment gourps which treated separately by CCB, ACEI and CCB or ACEI and ARB. Being treated for 8 weeks, the rats were examined for blood pressure, renal function, morphology and calcium ion level in renal cells.ResultsIn treatment groups, the systemic blood pressure and 24 hours proteinuria decreased, serum creatinine increased and pathological changes were mild, as compared with false surgery group. CCB can reduce the calcium ion level in renal cells. During all the treatment groups, ACEI in combination with ARB was best in reducing proteinaria. ACEI in combination with CCB was lightest in the renal pathological changes.ConclusionsACEI, ARB, CCB in alone or in combination can protect the renal fuction while the combination was better than the alone. ACEI in combination with ARB was best in reducing proteinaria. ACEI in combination with CCB was lightest in the renal pathological changes. CCB reduced intracellular calcium overload which was damage to the kidneys.
