ObjectiveTo investigate application of sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA) in evaluation of outcome of patients with acute organophosphorus pesticide poisoning (AOPP).MethodsA retrospective review of 135 standards-compliant patients was carried out. SOFA was counted at different time and the result was compared.ResultsBetween survivors and victims, there are all significant difference in SOFAs counted at admission, SOFAs counted at 48 hours after admission and the difference of them (P<0.01 totally). The SOFA of cardiovascular and nervous systems were the independent predictors (P<0.05 totally).ConclusionsThe result of SOFA was correlative with the prognosis of patients with acute organophosphorus pesticide poisoning. Observing SOFA dynamically could provide a practical method in evaluating the condition and prognosis of patients with acute organophosphorus pesticide poisoning.
