ObjectivesTo compare the differences of risk factors and target organ damage with phlegm dampness constitution and yin deficiency constitution with primary hypertension. Distinction for the prevention of hypertension provide a reference.MethodsSelect patients who visit the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of cardiac medical outpatient clinic during June 2009 to March 2010 were diagnosed with essential hypertension (EH). Judging by physical classification standards created by professor Wang Qi and fill out Chinese constitution questionnaire, select patients who were diagnosed with phlegm dampness constitution and yin deficiency constitution. Measur height, weight, waist circumference, blood pressure, blood lipids, fasting glucose, uric acid, serum liver of the two groups respectively, and calculate pulse pressure, body mass index, investigate lifestyle, family history of hypertension and combined metabolic diseases, target organ damage situation of the two group. Using SPSS16.0 statistical software for statistical analysis, compare the difference of various risk factors and differences between the two groups.ResultBy TCM constitution type, divide 242 EH patients into 2 groups,123 cases of phlegm dampness group,119 cases of yin deficiency group. The body mass index, aistline, systolic blood pressure, pulse, total cholesterol, triglycerides, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, uric acid of the phlegm dampness constitution group are much higher, and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol of this group is much lower than the yin deficiency group(P<0.05 or P<0.01), and the phlegm dampness constitution group have a evidently higher ratio of diabetes, hyperlipidemia, hyperuricemia, high cardiac heart disease, coronary heart disease (P<0.05 or P<0.01). In smoking, some tastes, lack of sleep, lack of exercise, the two groups had significant differences (P<0.05 or P<0.01); Cardiovascular disease risk classification on the incident: low-risk group, very high-risk group between the two group are significantly different (P<0.05), Patients from Yin deficiency group take a relatively large proportion of low risk group, the phlegm dampness constitution group make up a larger percentage of very high-risk group.ConclusionCompared with yin deficiency patients, phlegm dampness patients had higher levels of risk markers, together with more adverse lifestyles. This may suggest that phlegm dampness patients greater need to control risk factors and correct unhealthy living. At the same time, phlegm dampness patients together with more target organ damage and metabolic disease, and had higher risk of cardiovascular events. Does this mean that phlegm dampness EH patients may get a worse prognosis than the patients with yin deficiency EH patients, pending further study.
