Object:This study immunohistochemical SP staining to detect apoptotic gene bax-related cataract in young patients(aged 40-55 years old) lens epithelial cells, and expression levels to examine the lens epithelial cell apoptosis with the relationship between young cataract.Methods:The expression of bax was detected in surgery from 18 patients with cataract of young people (experimental group) and 22 patients with senile cataract (control group) by the Immunohistochemical streptavidin-peroxidase(SP) method.Results:Lens epithelial cells of anterior capsule showed that visible brown particles were found in young patients with cataract, suggesting that bax in young patients with cataract lens epithelial cells to express.The expression level:The high positive expressed of bax were 10 cases, positive expression of bax were 6 cases, and weakly positive of bax were 2 cases, no cases of negative expression in lens epithelial cells of young people cataract. Lens epithelial cells of anterior capsule showed that visible brown particles were found in senile cataract, suggesting that bax in senile cataract lens epithelial cells to express. The expression level:The high positive expressed of bax were 12 cases, positive expression of bax were 7 cases, and weakly positive of bax were 3 cases, no cases of negative expression in lens epithelial cells of senile cataract. The expression of bax was positive in young and elderly group of patients with cataract lens.There was no statistical significance between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:The incidence of cataract may be different between young cataracts (40-55 years) and senile cataract (60-80 years), but in the end caused cataract was due to lens epithelial cell apoptosis.Bax may play an important role in the oncogenesis of cataract.
