Objective:To investigate the expression of TRAIL,XIAP and P53 protein in ovarian epithelial tumor (OET) tissue. To study the role and relevance of TRAIL,XIAP and P53 protein in ovarian epithelial tumor occurrence and development. Methods:The expressions of TRAIL,XIAP and P53 protein were stained by Immunohistochemistry in 50 samples of ovarian epithelial carcinomas(OEC),40 samples of benign tumors and 38 samples of normal ovary. Results:TRAIL in epithelial ovarian cancer, benign ovarian tumors and normal ovarian tissues showed significantly increasing trend, the difference was significant. (P<0.01). And expression of TRAIL was no significant difference in benign ovarian tumor tissue and normal ovarian tissue (P> 0.0167).The expression of XIAP in epithelial ovarian cancer, benign ovarian tumors and normal ovary tissue was apparent decline, the difference was significant. (P<0.01). And expression of XIAP in benign ovarian tumor tissue and normal ovarian tissue was no significant difference (P> 0.0167).P53 in ovarian epithelial cancer tissues was significantly higher than benign epithelial ovarian tumors and normal ovarian tissue, the difference was significant. (P<0.01). And the expression of P53 in benign ovarian tumor tissue and normal ovarian tissue was no significant difference (P> 0.0167).The expression of TRAIL and P53, TRAIL and XIAP was negative correlation in all groups. The expression of XIAP and P53 in all groups had no correlation.Conclusion:1.TRAIL in benign epithelial tumors and normal control group is higher than the expression of epithelial ovarian cancer, which may be related to the promotion of cell apoptosis and inhibition of tumor.2.Compared with benign tumors and normal tissues, the expression of XIAP and P53 (apoptosis gene) increased in epithelial ovarian carcinoma, suggesting that reduced apoptosis of tumor cells may be one of the mechanisms in the pathogenesis of epithelial ovarian cancer.3.TRAIL and XIAP expression was negatively correlated, indicating that both may be involved in apoptosis through the same channels.4.The low expression of TRAIL and high expression of P53 may play a synergistic role in development process of ovarian epithelial tumor, which would reduce cell apoptosis, thus leading to tumor.
