Purpose:In this paper,88 cases of our hospital from 2002.12 to 2009.12 were analyzed retrospectively to explore the GBS clinical characteristics and recent prognosis. Methods:We retrospectively assessed the clinical manifestations, results of electrodiagnostic tests, functional status and prognosis of 88 patient diagnosed with GBS in Department of Neurology of our hospital from2002.12 to 2009.12.Discharged patients whose Hughes score≥3 or discharged score-admission score>0 is defined as a poor prognosis group,Hughes score<3 or discharged score-admission score≤0 is defined as a better prognosis group. We analyzed the related factors of good prognosis group(n=56), and poor prognosis group (n=32) respectively.Results:(1) General information:①There are 88 cases met the diagnostic standard, the average age of onset is 41.53±16.40 years old,the average hospitalization time are 18.66±8.22 days, the proportion of male and female is 1.32:l,and most cases occurred in summer.②There are 82 cases of AIDP.(2) Clinical characteristics:Nearly 3/4 of patients had definite inducements, most of which are upper respiratory infections or diarrhea(70%).There are 56 cases(64%) whose initial symptom is limb asthenia. The 70 cases of AIDP reached the peak during two weeks in pathogenesis, of which 56 cases reached the peak in the first week, and the fastest on the second day. There are 40 cases (45%)got symptom of cranial nerve.Automomic neurological disfuction is involved in 18 cases(20%).Their main manifestation are sphincter disturbance, perspiration, sinus tachycardia and ventricular premature. There are 82 cases whose extremities muscle strength decreased,50 cases whose tendon reflex decreased, and 28 cases whose tendon relex disappeared,66 cases whose muscular tension decreased,22 cases whose superficial sensation decreased, while hyperalgesia and radicular pain are rare. The study found a worse outcome when discharge was related to age, infection history, limb weakness, cranial nerve symptoms, decompensation, impairment of neuraxon, the higher score Hughes and various complications. Conclusions:A worse outcome was related to higher age, infection history, limb weakness, cranial nerve symptoms, decompensation, impairment of neuraxon, the higher score Hughes and various complications. And the Erasmus GBS Outcome Score(EGOS) is a good way to predict the prognosis.
