Objective To detect the change of serum 8 Isoprostan Prostaglandin F2alpha (8-iso-PGF2α), total superoxide dismutase (T-SOD) and uric acid (UA)in the elderly patients with acute cerebral infarction. To explore oxidative stress injury and serum uric acid increased over the age of 60 elderly patients with acute cerebral infarction , and provide prevention and treatment of acute cerebral infarction clinical basis.Methods Randomly selected 60 cases admitted to hospital within 48 hours of onset of acute cerebral infarction patients over the age of 60 years.As a control group with 30 healthy people over the age of 60 years, from January to May in 2009 .Their blood pressure, height, weight and so on were measured for calculating body mass index.To explore neurologic impairment in patients with acute cerebral infarction via the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) in US. All blood samples anticoagulated were dealed with centrifugation.All the blood samples were analyzed by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA )to detect 8-iso-PGF2αand T - SOD, UA were detected by automatic biochemical analyzer .They were made comparison and statistical analysis.Results (1) Compared with the healthy controls the level of UA,8-iso-PGF2αwere higher in acute cerebral infarction (P <0.01). T-SOD was significantly lower than the healthy control group (P <0.01).(2) The serum UA level was positively correlated with 8-iso-PGF2α(r = 0.698, P < 0. 01) ,but the serum UA level was negatively correlated with T- SOD activity(r =-0.712 P < 0. 01) . 8-isoPGF2αand T - SOD vitality also was a negative correlation (r = -0.723, P <0. 01).(3) The extent of neurological impairment relate to the level of 8-iso-PGF2α, T– SOD and UA.It is namely that the level of 8-iso-PGF2αand UA in the cute cerebral infarction group was significantly higher than mild and moderate group. (4)Hyperuricemia compared with normal serum uric acid in cerebral infarction group , plasma 8-iso-PGF2αlevels were significantly increased, T-SOD activity significantly lower (P <0.01).Conclusion The lipid peroxidation and oxidative stress were enhanced,the antioxidant capacity was impaired in elderly patients with acute cerebral infarction. The more severe the condition, the more obvious expression of those.The UA increasing cooperation with oxidative stress were participated in occurrence and development of the elderly patients with acute cerebral infarction.Antioxidant therapy ,reduce serum UA and use the anti-free radical of drug may contribute to the prevention and treatment of cerebral infarction.
