Object: Firstly, we prepared PVA/PEO hydrogel materials and studied their Applications on neutron radiation protection in this issue. Secondly, after PAAS/PVA hydrogel films were prepared, Bovine serum albumin(BSA) was chosen as a model drug to study the behavior of drug release in PAAS/PVA hydrogel films which provide evidence for hydrogel dressings as protein controlled-release carrier. Thirdly, PAAS/PVA gels, a super absorbent polymer had been prepared and we studied its general performance and Degree of swelling rate ,these provided a new materials and method for preparation of super absorbent polymer.Methods: Firstly, simple PVA/PEO hydrogel materials and the hydrogel containing metal ions materials were prepared by physical cross-linking method, and then we observed its physical and chemical properties. It was simulated that neutron transporting situation in different hydrogels by SHIELD procedure, and the role which hydrogels shield and slow neutron was actually measured in different conditions. Secondly, PAAS/PVA hydrogel films were prepared by radiated crossing-linking, we measured permeability coefficient of BSA, the BSA-loading efficiency, and BSA in vitro release efficiency. Finally, PAAS/PVA gels were prepared on the basis of radiation cross-linking preparation PAAS/PVA hydrogel films through the physical methods of swelling, freeze-drying, and then its characterization were observed and the rate of swelling retention were measured.Results: PVA/PEO hydrogel materials have the shield moderating effect to 2.45MeV neutron whether through Monte Carlo simulation or actual measurement, and the effect is stronger with increment of hydrogel thickness, especially for the PVA/PEO hydrogels containing metal ions. The percentage reduction of 2.45MeV neutron flux count through 10cm thickness of hydrogels containing metal ions increase significantly and it comes to 61.3%. PAAS/PVA hydrogel by radiation cross-linking preparation not any have high swelling retention, but permeability coefficient of BSA comes to 83.95X10-2cm/s in the group of full swelling, and the rate of BSA-loading efficient comes to 28.55%, and have the role of continually releasing BSA. The PAAS/PVA gels has the good quality and higher rate of swelling.Conclusion:PVA/PEO hydrogel materials can be used as the carrier of neutron radiation shielding material, it provides new evidence to further study the neutron shielding and slowing compound materials. The new PVA/PEO hydrogels containing metal ions provide simple and effective shielding materials for high LET neutron radiation.PAAS/PVA hydrogel films not any have high swelling retention, but have good drug permeation properties and can continually release drugs. It provides theoretical basis for drugs loading and release when PAAS/PVA hydrogel films have been used as dressings. PAAS/PVA gels used the method to prepare significantly improved the texture and rate of swelling of general gels. It provided a new method and idea to prepare superabsorbent material.
