So far, Streptomyces hygroscopicus is one of the largest number of species that produced antibiotics whose structures and activities were diverse. Fujian Institute of Microbiology has reported that a compound FW 99501 was isolated from culture broth of Streptomyces hygroscopicus FIM99501.The structure of FW 99501 was determined to be nigericin, which was found to possess strong immunosuppression and anti MRSA activities. This study takes further analysis to the fermentation products, looking forward to isolating compounds from the broth with new chemical structures or activities.Four minor components in fermentation extract of Streptomycin hygroscopicus FIM99501 were separated and purified by combination of macroporous adsorptive resin, high speed countercurrent chromatography, preparation of liquid chromatography in suppressed and preparative high performance liquid chromatography. The structures of the three components were determined to be ascomycin, fatty acid and FK-523 by physico-chemical properties and spectral analyses, respectively MS, UV, IR, NMR and x-ray crystal diffraction.
