Selenium (Se) is an essential trace element for human being and it has cancer-preventive properties. Se can be clarified into three groups, which is elemental selenium, inorganic selenium or organic selenium. It has extremely narrow range between its beneficial and toxic dose. However, chemopreventive effects of Se and Se as chemotherapy enhancer in animals usually occur in supranutritional level and much higher level, which approach or reach toxic dose of Se. Therefore, many scientists around the world bend themselves to search for new selenium form with higher bioactivity and lower toxity. In this dissertation, Nano-Se and selenosulfate were prepared and their bioactivity was investigated through animal experiment. The main contents were given as follows:1. Nano-Se was synthesis through sodium selenite reduced by tobacco Rubisco, which was extracted from tobacco leaf by crystallization method under the proper conditions of pH and ionic strength. When compared with the red Se0 formed by glutathione and sodium selenite, the red Se0 formed by the tobacco Rubisco and sodium selenite was stable nanopaticals and do not change into black sediment. Furthermore, in terms of bioactivity, it has efficiency in attenuating the cardiotoxicity of doxorubicin.2. Selenosulfate was prepared sucessfully by quick synthetic method that is from sodium selenite, reductate and sodium sulfite according to a certain ratio. Then, based on animal experiment, selenosulfate at nutritional dose as well as pharmacological dose was choosed to selenium supplementation for long period of eight weeks. The long-term toxicity of selenosulfate was investigated. The results indicated that selenosulfate remain lower long-term selenium toxity compared with sodium selenite.
