ObjectiveTo investigate the expression and clinical significance of Connexin 43(CX43) in bladder urothelial carcinoma.Methods1. Immunohistochemistry:Connexin 43 protein expressions went by strept-avidin-biotin complex.2. Western Blot was performed to test the Connexin 43 protein level in the case group and the control group, observe the expression of Connexin 43 protein between bladder urothelial carcinoma and normal bladder tissue, analyse the relation for the expression of Connexin 43 protein among bladder urothelial carcinoma clinical pathology.ResultsConnexin 43 Protein expressing in cell membrane and kytoplasm is buffy granules; Positive rate of Connexin 43 Protein expression in bladder urothelial carcinoma is 37.8%, in normal bladder tissue is 91.7%, the difference is significant(P<0.01). Connexin 43 Protein expression positive rate between clinical stages showed difference but it was of no statistics significance. Connexin 43 Protein expression Positive rate between position of tumor didn't reveal distinguished difference. The results showed that Cx43 positive rate in BUC (bladder urothelial carcinoma) was significant lower than that in normal transitional cell tissues.ConclusionsThe present results suggest that Cx43 express highly in BUC, which is related to the pathological differentiation and pathogenesis of the tumor. The results indicated that the low expression of Cx43 might play an important role in the development of bladder urothelial carcinoma, Cx43 maybe a therapeutic purposes in bladder.
