OBJECTIVE To evaluate the accuracy of dual-source CT (DSCT) in detecting coronary artery stenosis.METHODS Eighty-three patients with known or suspected coronary artery disease were performed DSCT and conventional coronary angiography from March 2009 to October 2010. Conventional coronary angiography was taken as gold standard for calculation of diagnostic accuracy. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) of DSCT were evaluated respectively for detection of coronary artery stenosis. All statistical tests were calculated using SPSS13.0 software. Two-relatedχ~2 test was calculated to evaluate the relationship between the DSCT and CAG in discovering the coronary artery stenosis, and Cohen's kappa was also calculated to quantify inter-rater agreement between DSCT and CAG.RESULTS In a total of 1133 segments of coronary artery (diameter≥1.5 mm) of 83 patients, 1111 were evaluated by DSCT. The assessment rate was 98.06%. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value of the DSCT in detecting coronary artery stenosis on a per-segment basis were 90.25%, 97.83%, 91.81% and 97.38%; respectively. The accuracy rate of DSCT in detecting coronary artery stenosis was 87.30%. Statistical analysis using a two-relatedχ~2 test showed no obvious difference in the discovery of coronary artery stenosis between DSCT and CAG (P = 0.643). Also, kappa index (k = 0.886) indicated excellent agreement between DSCT and CAG.CONCLUSION DSCT provides a high diagnostic accuracy in detecting coronary artery stenosis. It can be a preferred mathod in detecting coronary arteries disease.
