Objective:Observe the effectiveness of cervical vertebrae joint loosening method to treat vertebral artery type cervical spondylopathy, its effects on x-rays and results, and to discuss its mechanism of action.Method:Randomly split 102 vertebral artery type cervical spondylopathy patients into a cervical vertebrae joint loosening method treatment group (53 patients) and a purely decubitus traction comparison group (49 patients). Observe the before and after treatment changes in occurrence of cervical vertigo, functional values, physical manifestations, x-rays, TCD results, and any side effects that my occur. Results:The cervical vertebrae joint loosening method is more effective at treating CSA than the purely decubitus traction method (P<0.05). It can effectively ameliorate the symptoms of cervical vertigo (P<0.01), relieve muscle spasms and inflammation of the joints (P<0.01), correct neck instability (P<0.01), and improve blood circulation in the C1 basilar artery (P<0.01). No adverse effects were observed during the course of treatment and long term effectiveness seems stable. Conclusion:The cervical vertebrae joint loosening method is an effective, safe, and reasonably designed method for treating CSA. Its mechanism of action is through relieving muscle spasms, adjusting cervical vertebrae joint structure, restoring the internal and external pressure balance in the cervical vertebrae, and reducing the stimulation or compression of sympathetic nerves and vertebral arteries, thereby improving blood circulation in the C1 basilar artery and achieving clinical efficacy.
