[Background]:As diagnostic imaging technology continues to evolve, cervical trauma with blunt vertebral artery injury has been increasingly recognized. Study found that cervical spine trauma with blunt vertebral artery injury cases more prevalent than previously thought. Symptoms of vertebral artery injury often have hidden and non-specific, so there may be missed, but the complications caused by it is a catastrophic, so that patients are likely to develop a potentially devastating cerebral apoplexy. Thus directly affecting the cervical spine injury rehabilitation, and even endanger the patient's life.[Objective]:Cervical spine injury by blunt vertebral artery injury caused by observation and analysis of clinical cases to explore the merger of blunt vertebral artery injury in cervical spine injury in trauma mechanisms, diagnostic tools and treatment.[Methods]:From March 2009 to March 2010 period, using a continuous observation method, through the neck artery magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) technology, a continuous observation of 19 patients with cervical spine trauma, combined with clinical information on the blunt vertebral artery injury with cervical spine injury in patients with clinical symptoms, signs, and a compre- hensive analysis of incidence.[Results]:Of 19 patients, 5 (26.3%) patients had blunt vertebral artery injury combined with cervical spine injury, 5 cases were unilateral injury, which occurred in 2 patients related to vertebral-basilar artery ischemia symptoms of dizziness, frequent nausea and vomiting, facial numbness, vague language, etc., and 3 case without any symptoms.[Conclusion]:1 Vertebral artery injury often appear after cervical spine trauma ,with secretiveness and non-specific characteristics.2 Vertebral artery injury with spinal cord injuries have no direct link between。3 The mechanism of violence buckling rotation is easy to produce vertebral artery injury.4 Cervical Facet Dislocation and transverse foramen fracture easily lead to vertebral artery injury.5 MRA is a reliable diagnostic tool early post-traumatic cervical.6 Closed cervical spine trauma with vertebral artery injury should be early diagnosis, treatment.
