| Objective To evaluate the effect of scleral buckling surgery (SBS) combined with pneumatic retinopexy (PR) on rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD).Methods 14 eyes were examined retrospectively after treatment of a rhegmatogenous retinal detachment with scleral buckling surgery combined pneumatic retinopexy (Perfluoropropane injectioned) during 2009.11 to 2010.8.All the patients were underwent retinal surgery for the first time, none has obviously traumatic history, retinal holes located at 8:00—4:00 quadrants and PVR degrees≤C1. Before operations, essential examinations like visual acuity, intraocular pressure, slit-lamp, direct and indirect ophthalmoscope examinations were needed. During operations, make conjunctival incisions first, then preset sutures to guide the rectus, drain fluid through outer layer scleral or anterior chamber at drainage point, under binocular indirect ophthalmoscope locate retinal holes, carry out transscleral cryotherapy, suture the wheel-gel-silica-pressure parallel with limbus or make cerclage, later check the buckle positions under binocular indirect ophthalmoscope, inject perfluoropropane at pars plana and test patient's vision roughly. After surgery, patients were asked to keep Trendelenburg position or lateral decutitus position according to their holes locations. Follow-up 1-6 months, patients' retinal anatomical reduction rate, vision acuity and postoperation complication were inspected.Results Among all 14 cases 14 eyes retinal tears were sealed off and retinal anatomical reduction rate is 100% postoperation 6 month, at the same time the vision acuity remotion rate is 100% and complication rate is 28.57%.Conclusions To certain kind of retinal detachment patients like PVR C1 or lower and retinal holes locats at 8:00—4:00 quadrants, the way scleral buckling surgery combined with pneumatic retinopexy (C3F8) can get satisfied retinal anatomical reduction rate and vision acuity remotion with low complication rate.
