Objective:To research the Levonorgestrel releasing intrauterine system(LNG-IUS; brand name:Mirena) in the treatment of dysmenorrhea and menorrhagia caused by adenomyosis clinical efficacy, and provide clinical treatment of adenomyosis new ideas. Methods:We selected 56 patients based on clinical symptoms, color doppler ultrasound, laparoscopy or open surgery diagnosis of patients with adenomyosis, on the 1-3th day of menstrual cycle placed LNG-IUS, Self-control Comprison. visual analogue scale (VAS), verbal rating scale (VRS), and PBAC scores were compared before LNG-IUS insertion and after 3,6,9,12 months, respectively, before LNG-IUS insertion and after 3,6,9,12 months, B-shaft measured values of the size of the uterus to calculate uterine volume, which, uterine volume was calculated according to volume of an ellipsoid, that ellipsoid volume= 4/3TIabc (abc for the value of half the length of each axis,Π=3.1415); at the same time, serum values for CA125, CA199 were determined. Results:After 3 months treatment of LNG-IUS, VAS and VRS scores was decreased from 8.3±1.0 and 2.3±0.4 to 5.9±0.9 and 1.8±0.3, respectively (P<0.05); After 12 months treatment of LNG-IUS, The uterine volume was decreased from263±96.7cm3 to170±66.9cm3(P<0.05), after treatment, uterine volume was significantly reduced, the difference was statistically significant; serum values for CA125, CA199, before and in 6,9,12 months following the insertion, were 84.0±21.7u/ml versus 53.4±15.5u/ml, 43.6±11.7u/ml,29.2±8.6u/ml and 65.1±17.9u/ml versus 42.3±12.2u/ml, 35.6±10.4u/ml,24.0±8.2u/ml respectively(P<0.05); the menstrual blood volume was significantly reduced in the treatment of 6 months, the PBAC scores reduced significantly to (57.9±11.2)% of that before treatment.Conclusion:LNG-IUS inserting inside uterine cavity can significanty alleviate the clinical symptoms of adenomyosis, moreover, it can improve the patients living quality, and is quite promising in the clinical application.
