Morinda officinalis is the dry root of Morinda officinalis How, Rubiaceae. It has the effect of adding kidney yang, enhancing muscles and bones and curing rheumatism. Morinda officinalis mainly grows in Guangdong, Fujian and Guangxi Province and was one of the Four South medicine. Compounds were found in M. officinalis contains anthraquinone, iridoid and carbohydrate; pharmacological research revealed that Morinda officinalis has anti-fatigue, enhancing immune, anti-tumor and anti-inflammatory activity and can promote the secretion of corticosterone. The project investigated the anti-fatigue and anti-aging chemical constituents and confirmed the structure and activity of carbohydrates in Morinda officinalis. This project selected the anti-aging part through animal testing. Chemical compounds, isolated from Morinda officinalis by macroporous resin HP-20, active carbon (mesh 12-20), microcrystalline cellulose and PTLC, were identified by modern chromatography and spectral technology. Chemical compounds that have anti-aging activity were confirmed by cell test.Water extraction has anti-fatigue and anti-aging activity. Six compounds, isolated from Morinda officinalis, were identified as sucrose (1), nystose (2), a-D-gluctopyranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-fructopyranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-fructopyranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-fructopyranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-fructopyranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-fructofuranose(3),β-D-fructofuranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-fructofuranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-fructopyranose (4),β-D-fructofuranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-fructofuranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-fructofuranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-fructopyranose (5),β-D-fructofuranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-fructofuranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-fructofuranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-fructofuranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-fructopyranose (6). Compounds 4,5,6 were firstly isolated from Morinda officinalis How.
