Recently, how to reduce obesity, especially childhood obesity, lead to heated debate across Canada. The reason is that Canada is now one of every four adolescents were overweight or obese there. Statistics show that:with 30 years ago, the Canadian juvenile obesity increased from 17% to 27%; girls obesity rose from 15% to 25%; increase in the proportion of adult obesity is also greater than that, about every 6 out of 10 adults are in the overweight or obese. and this trend is still rising. Pointed out that medical institutions, which lead from diabetes, hypertension, heart disease and stroke incidence in the steadily rising. This brings general attention up to the Government and down to the parents.Obesity is generally divided into two categories, one is illness caused obesity, it is because the disease (encephalitis, brain tumors, arthritis or chronic diseases need to take hormones or taking hormone because of illness) caused endocrine disorders and caused obesity, such obesity is called symptomatic obesity. Obesity in these obese patients has the total number of about 5%.Another obesity is due to intake of dietary calories in the process, much more than its own consumption of heat, leaving the excess fat and other nutrients accumulated in the body to form fat cells, resulting in obesity, obesity of such is called Personal obesity, obesity accounted for such number of obese people more than 90% of the total.TCM believes that the factors caused personal obesity are genetic factors, irregular diet, too little exercise, impassioned internal injuries to the body, mental factors. These related to the dysfunction of liver, spleen, kidney and clinically manifested as abnormal sweating, underactive or overactive appetite, diarrhea/constipation, abdominal bloating, fatique and other symptoms.ObjectiveAccording to U. S. scientists released a new research findings, due to poor diet and neglect of exercise-induced obesity has replaced tobacco as the number one killer of human beings. Chinese Immigrants living in North America after the change in diet, it is increasing number of Chinese who suffering from obesity, so that they face with the people, like heart disease and diabetes and other diseases of the threat.In this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted in Chinese Canadian, obesity observation of TCM syndrome differentiation, and its characteristics and causes of syndromes statistical analysis in the future development of Chinese medicine treatment of obesity for overseas program to provide a standardized clinical basis.MethodsChinese Canadian obesity 100 patients in the Anissa Health Care Services Clinic, Canada and questionnaires were given, according to Chinese Canadian TCM obesity of the questionnaire, induction of sweating, low appetite, stool and abdominal bloating, fatigue and other symptoms in the distribution of each syndrome.ConclusionThe 100 patients, according to TCM statistical analysis, have a total of five different types of TCM syndromes: (a) Spleen Damp type in 30 cases,30%; (b) 19 cases of Liver Qi stagnation type, accounting for 19%; (c) 31 cases of Stomach damp heat type, accounting for 31%; (d) Spleen and Kidney deficiency type 13 cases,13%; (e) 7 cases of Kidney Yin deficiency type, accounting for 7%. Less sweat most in Kidney Yin deficiency type, Spleen Damp type; hyperhidrosis most in Stomach damp heat type, Spleen and Kidney deficiency type.Diarrhea most in Spleen Damp type, Spleen and Kidney deficiency type; constipation most in Stomach damp heat type. Abdominal bloating, fatigue, typically found in Spleen and Kidney deficiency type, Spleen Damp type.Less drink mostly in Spleen and kidney deficiency type, Spleen Damp type; more drink mostly in Kidney Yin deficiency and Stomach damp heat type.
