Objectives:Through the study and research of the" Treatise on Exogenous Febrile Diseases" and the "Golden Chamber",the author find that Zhang Zhongjing has special characteristics inusing prescription. Under the guidance of his thinking that " The unknown can be deduced from the known", the purpose of this research is to make Zhang Zhongjing's using-prescription- system entirely, systematicly and regularly,to clean up and conclude the later famous physicians's usage for this law. Consequetely, it strives to not only build a modern Chinese medicine clinical prescription system of single prescription application, two prescriptions combination and compound prescriptions compatibility, but also improve them day by day. It strives to inherit and develop the traditional Chinese medicine, but also innovate the theory to some extent. Methods:Through the summary of Zhang Zhongjing's formular using rules and division the classification and structural features,it finally establishes Zhang Zhongjing's clinical prescription system. The single prescription applying system is divided into "a prescription for a disease"and "single prescription modification applying". The single prescription modification applying can be divided into three types of single prescription plus flavour, single prescription Minus flavour and herbs modification. As for the system of two prescriptions combination, after careful analysis, the author find out in " Treatise on Exogenous Febrile Diseases" Zhang Zhongjing make eithor definite or obscure desciptions, amounted to more than 20 articles.Even if it does not clearly offer cases and discusses on compound prescriptions compatibility in " Treatise on Exogenous Febrile Diseases",through the study and analysis complex diseases and their owe prescriptions which are separeted and combined, many embryonic forms of prescriptions compatibility can be acquired after discussion and comparative analysis. The late physicians'cases can be devided into ancient physicians'cases and modern physicians'cases. The ancient physicians'part selects prominent scholars'cases to study which are writed in "Doctrines of various historical schools" editted by Mr Ren Yingqiu. The modern physicians'part selects outstanding scholars'cases to study which are writed in "The road of old famous doctors of traditional Chinese medicine" and make great contributions to the Chinese medicine clinical prescription systemTheir application and development for the system proves that acturelly prescription using in clinical practice doesn't beyond this range. Results:The establishment of the Chinese medicine clinical prescription system set a model for the later used. The research shows that single prescription application has become a mature, two prescriptions combination application has got great development and compound prescriptions compatibility application has begin to come into shaping gradually. By the later clinical application with the Chinese medicine clinical prescription system, we find the system, the author proposed, is objective existence and is the development need to meet TCM itself. The single prescription application system is changeless, while the system of two prescriptions combination application and compound prescriptions compatibility application are changeful variegated. The three complementary, and bring out the best in each other. Conclusions:Zhang Zhongjing's and the late physicians'application and development for the system prove that the prescription using in clinical practice doesn't beyond this range. This division of the system, is reasonable, feasible and straightforward. This research results are innovative and practical, which would make a contribution to buliding the Chinese medicine clinical prescription system.
