ObjectiveTo analysis the effect about using tamsulosin combined ESWL (extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy) treatment to upper urinary tract stones (ureteral stones and kidney stones) .Materials and MethodsWe collect relevant foreign randomized controlled trials in PubMed, MEDLINE, EMbase, wanfang database, Google though computer retrieval and Evaluation methodological quality. Used statistical software RevMan4.2.2 for META analysisResults and conclusionsWe have collected nine randomized controlled trials(783 cases), seven of them is in a foreign country, two of them is at home . META analysis showed that: the treatment of tamsulosin combined with ESWL in patients with a higher stone clearance rate [RR = 1.26, 95% cl (1.14,1.38)]. Analysis of five studies suggest that the experimental group and control group no significant difference in stone clearance time [SMD =- 0.29, 95% cl (-0.49, -0.10)]. Analysis of three studies showed that the test group lower pain scores than the control group [SMD =- 1.02, 95% cl (-1.27, -0.76)],. Analysis of seven studies suggest that the experimental group and control group patients with no significant difference in adverse reactions [RR = 3.66, 95%cl(0.91,14.75)].ConclusionTamsulosin combined with ESWL have a better therapeutic effect than single ESWL in treatment of urinary tract stones. And tamsulosin can reduce the pain of patient, so that it reduce the use of pain medications. There is fewer side effects occur in the studies that tamsulosin is safe to use.
